Green Building Practices at Palette o’ Green ‘n Red

We use locally sourced casuarina, eucalyptus and bamboo for truss systems and frameworks.

We construct walls using stabilized interlocking mud blocks. This regulates temperature, and removes the need for electrical or other fuel-powered air-conditioning on our farm.
It also helps decrease our use of cement.

Recycled pine wood is used for door and window frames.

We experimented with recycled plastic roofing sheets and window frames (Ricron).

Thoughtful design goes into smaller details as well, like insulating the hot water pipes, so one does not waste water in the shower waiting for hot water.

We believe these practices reduce the embodied energy of our infrastructure, while blending in with the natural surroundings.
